3 new vertebrate species have been discovered on Australia's Cape York Peninsula
http://www.iflscience.com/plants-and-animals/three-new-vertebrate-species-isolated-millions-years-have-been-discovered
Dr. Tim Laman went to explore a remote mountain range on Cape York Peninsula in NE Australia and went to the rain forest near the boulder-fields, which is largely unexplored. Dr. Laman has discovered 3 new species that have been completely isolated for million of years which made them evolved into distinct species in their environment. The 3 species are Leaf-tailed Gecko, Shake Skink, and Boulder-frog.
Leaf-tailed Gecko was known as "exceptional", "extraordinary", or "exquisite" due to when the rain-forest was more spread out million of years ago. It hunts for prey at night and it is highly camouflaged and sit still for their prey to come near.
Shade Skink is discovered along with Leaf-Tailed Gecko. This specie is active during day when Leaf-Tailed Gecko is active during the night. It is referred as "saltus", which mean leaping due to the running and jumping hunting the prey.
Boulder-frog is a "rock-loving" specie. It lives during the dry season in the boulder-field and when the temperature began to decrease and become moister. It comes to the rock and feed and breed there.
