The study about the Coral Reefs were held from 1999 to 2012. They have established the article in the November online issue called Public Library of Science. The scientists, Frazer and Jacoby studied reefs around Little Cayman Island, an area that is known for its healthy reefs. According to the Caribbean researchers has stated that the damaged reefs can recover. For 13 years of researching and studying Jacoby and Frazer had indicated that the reefs where it is located in the warm ocean temperatures, it led to bleaching and infectious diseases that reduce live coral cover by more than 40% between 1999-2004. The reef at the island is protected. Even the well protected one are suffering from the damage that human had done to them. Overfishing, runoff, coral mining, tourism, and coastal development are the treats to the coral reef. The researchers believed that if humans pay more attention to protecting them then it will also help the organisms that live in the coral reefs.
